Hire the Institute

The Abington Institute can be hired for use by Clubs, Organisations and Private Hire for anyone associated with the villages

The rooms in the Institute can be hired by Village Groups and by village residents (or those having strong links with Abington) and local businesses.

The bookable rooms are:

All the rooms have good heating and lighting.

​

​

 

There are ladies and gents toilets off the Foyer and a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities.

 

Users of the Main Hall may use the Kitchen (if not in use by Jeremiah’s Café at the time) free of charge for making drinks only.

 

The Kitchen is well equipped with commercial sized cooker, dishwasher, water heater for drinks, cooking equipment, crockery, glasses and cutlery for up to 80 people. It does not have refrigeration facilities for use by hirers.

 

The Terrace has a small kitchenette at one end that may be used free of charge by users of this room. There are two electric kettles and crockery and cutlery available there.

 

The Foyer, which is also the entrance hall to the building, is not bookable; it has tables and chairs and is the venue for community café – Jeremiah’s Café (link); it has Wi-Fi, notice boards about village events and also books to borrow

 

The Main Hall has a sound system with hearing loop and digital overhead projector and screen.

 

Tables (10 large and 12 small, all folding) and chairs (48 in Main Hall plus 48 upholstered folding chairs and 24 metal chairs in store room) are available for use by hirers.

 

Charges

​

Note that we do not charge by the hour. There are small additional charges however for ‘setting up’ hours, say before a party.

 

The booking charges are given below. The charges are lower for village groups, organisations and regular users.

 

There are reductions in charges for booking of two consecutive sessions e.g. morning and afternoon, or for booking two or more rooms e.g. Main Hall and Terrace.

Booking are confirmed on receipt of a deposit, completion and return of the booking form and confirmation that the conditions of hire have been read, both of these will be supplied by the Administrator. The deposit required is 50% of the booking charge (if booked more than 30 days in advance) or the full booking charge (if booked 30 days or less before the booking date).
